Filipina convicted of joining ISIS lodges appeal in Kuwait


(MENAFN- Asia Times) An appeal by a Filipino woman convicted of joining the Islamic State terrorist group has been adjourned by Kuwait's Court of Appeals.

The woman was accused of joining ISIS – also known as Daesh – and convicted by the Criminal Court, which sentenced her to 10 years in jail, the reported.

She filed an appeal at the Court of Appeals. However, the court decided on Wednesday to adjourn the case to March 14.

A similar case happened in 2016 when a Filipino woman was jailed for 10 years after being convicted of joining the same terrorist group and plotting attacks in Kuwait, reported. This woman, who arrived in Kuwait to work as a domestic in June 2016, was arrested two months later and confessed that she was a member of the Islamic State group.
