Kuwait to invest USD2bn in Iraq's reconstruction process

(MENAFN) Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah revealed Kuwait's decision to invest $1 billion in Iraq for its renovation project, along with another $1 billion in loan.

Iraq has begun its reconstruction process, which is in desperate need of support, in order to repair damages done by militants, with plans to rebuild infrastructure along with further public utilities.

Sheikh Emir stated "in light of our realization of such consequences, we considered the vital role of the private sector in reinvigorating the investment environment in Iraq."

He continued "last night, more than 2,000 businesses from the private sector came to examine investment opportunities in Iraq. Also, non-governmental organizations contributed in lessening suffering of the Iraqi people."
