Kuwait- Rose prices hiked

(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY, Feb 14: Sellers of roses said their sales shoot up by about 200 percent on Valentine's Day when the demand is high and prices usually increase by about 40 percent to 100 percent depending on the types of roses, indicating that red roses are the most in demand for this occasion, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting sources. Sources disclosed the number of Kuwaiti women who buy red roses on this day is higher than their male counterparts because men typically buy jewelry for their wives or fiancées while others prefer to buy chocolates or have romantic dinner at a restaurant. Sources said the price of one rose has increased from 750 fils to KD 1 and KD 1.5 depending on the quality and color.
