Kuwait- GCC chief seeks to mobilize efforts to support Iraq


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Feb 14 (KUNA) -- The Gulf Cooperation Council's (GCC) Secretary General Abdullatif Al-Zayani called on the international community to work as a cohesive unit in order to restore stabiity and development to Iraq.

In his speech during a conference on reconstruction in Iraq, Al-Zayani said the Kuwaiti initiative was a testament to the country's commitment to fight terrorism and bring much needed peace to the war-battered nation.

He went on to congratulate Iraq on its military victory over the so-called Islamic State (IS).

Meanwhile, Al-Zayani's counterpart at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), D. Yousef Al-Othaimeen, hailed the Kuwait-hosted conference as yet another contribution towards a humanitarian cause. (end) fn.mk.nam
