Kuwait: Qatar participated in the ministerial meeting of the International Coalition against ISIS, which was held yesterday in Kuwait with the participation of 74 members representing governments and international organisations in the coalition.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H E Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani headed the delegation of Qatar to the meeting.

In his speech during the meeting, he extended thanks to Kuwait's Emir and people for hosting the important meeting after liberating Iraq and for the excellent preparation and genuine hospitality.

H E Sheikh Mohamed stressed that terrorism in its different forms has become the biggest threat to the Arab region and the whole world. He added that Qatar has always voiced its rejection and condemnation to this phenomenon and stressed the importance of eliminating all terrorist organisations wherever they exist.

He went on to say that it is regrettable that some international positions were not based on accurate and realistic understanding of the real reasons of the terrorism phenomenon, actual developments in the course of events and not finding final solutions to the actual reasons of terrorism. He pointed that the international community must put an end to the war crimes and crimes against humanity committed against innocent civilians everywhere and on the basis of whatever the justifications.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister noted that the International Coalition against ISIS has made every effort in the elimination of the origins of terrorist organisations. 'Today, the coalition is achieving its goal in Iraq in cooperation with the Iraqi government, which we commend for its efforts in this regard, he said pointing out that the coalition should continue its efforts to eliminate terrorist organisations and all forms and patterns of terrorism in Syria.

He added: 'Today we must focus on reaching a just solution that will compensate the Syrian people for the crimes committed by the Syrian regime on one side and the terrorist organisations on the other. It is, therefore, incumbent upon us to support the efforts of the United Nations and its envoy Staffan de Mistura in accordance with the Geneva Declaration and to hold all war criminals accountable.

H E Sheikh Mohamed said that Qatar has spared no effort in combating terrorism and extremism in all its forms and images, by taking all necessary measures locally, coordinating and contributing effectively to the efforts of the international coalition, through bilateral, regional and multilateral cooperation, providing humanitarian assistance and supporting educational, economic and other development initiatives to achieve global security and stability.
