Prosecutors drop charges against McDonald's Korea

(MENAFN) Prosecutors said Tuesday they will not file charges against the local unit of McDonald's, due to a lack of evidence that undercooked burgers at its restaurants caused illness among some customers.

The Central District Prosecutors' Office in Seoul released the result of its investigation into the restaurant that was prompted by complaints from a few consumers last year, as there was no sufficient evidence to back the claims.

However, it has charged three officials from a McDonald's burger patty supplier for violating hygiene control and food safety regulations.

Prosecutors launched an investigate into the fast food chain after a local consumer filed a complaint last July accusing it of being responsible for her 5-year-old daughter's incurable kidney disease.
