DOHA: The Ministry of Municipality and Environment has planted 50 Sidr trees using waterboxx technology in Al Shahaniya Municipality under a campaign to cultivate plants in desert land.
It is second phase of the experiment conducted by the Public Parks Department at the Ministry in collaboration with Al Shahaniya Municipality to improve the plantation process in desert land with low water, said a statement. The trees are planted in the supervision of the agricultural engineers and experts from the Public Parks Department and Al Shahaniya Municipality.
Waterboxx technology is being used under an experiment project of Public Parks Department to provide appropriate environment for growing plants in the country.
The waterboxx is a device designed to help grow trees in dry areas. The device functions as a plant incubator, sheltering both a newly planted sapling and the ground around it from the heat of the sun, while providing water for the plant.
