Yemen names new central bank governor

(MENAFN) A former finance minister has been named as the head of the Yemen's Central Bank- based in the southern city of Aden-, by President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi, according to Fox News.

The report late Sunday said that Hadi replaced the Central Bank Governor Mansr al-Qaiti, who has accused a Saudi-led coalition fighting rebels in the country of "strangling the Yemeni economy," with Mohammed Zammam.

For nearly three years, the Saudi-led coalition has been carrying out airstrikes in Yemen to regain power for their ally Mansour Hadi, resulting on killing more than 14, 000 people not to mention those wounded and displaced.

The rial, trading at 500 to the dollar, has almost lost half its value since the war began in March 2015.
