Turkey to resume "Olive branch" assault

(MENAFN) On Saturday, a new batch of military equipment of the Turkish army entered the province of Hatay, southern Turkey.

The new military equipment is supposed to be made available to Turkish forces participating in Offensive "Olive Branch" in northern Syria, according to AnatolyPress.

The military convoys contain 60 armored vehicles, convoyed of course by a group of Special Forces of the Turkish army.

On Saturday, January 20, Turkey launched an air-land assault in northern Syria called Operation "Olive Branch" against militia linked to the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG), the military branch of the Party of the Democratic Union (PYD).

Turkey calls them terrorists and has repeatedly denounced Washington's support for these groups.

However, Damascus strongly condemned Turkey's military intervention in the north of the country. Russia, on the other hand, calls on the parties in Syria to maintain their perseverance and to respect the national sovereignty of Syria.
