African leadership prize presented to Liberian former President Sirleaf

(MENAFN) The $5 million Mo Ibrahim prize for African Leadership has been awarded to Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, former president of Liberia.

The committee of the award has stated how the former leader presented outstanding leadership in tricky situations, despite allegations made against her of allowing corruption to pass through.

The committee also showed Liberia to be the single country out of 54 to have progressed in each category as well as sub-category the Ibrahim Index of African Governance took into account.

Even though Mrs. Sirleaf was not able to re-run for presidential elections, she served exceptional two terms before the ex-football star George Weah succeeded her.
