UAE- WorldGovSummit Live: Sheikh Mohammed attends smmit


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the sixth edition of the World Government Summit (WGS 2018) is underway in Dubai.

A strong line-up including government representatives, dignitaries and thought leaders will discuss key themes at the event, which runs from February 10-13. More than 130 speakers across 120 interactive sessions and more than 4,000 participants from 140 countries - including heads of governments and representatives of 16 international organisations - have been confirmed to attend the event at Madinat Jumeirah.

On Day 2, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was at his oratory best as he of his second UAE visit. Modi, touched on many points during his inaugural speech, including the use of technology, in the space industry and renewable energy.

During his speech at the Dubai Opera, he urged the 3.3-million strong Indian community in the UAE to respect the ideals of their host country.

During a late afternoon session on the first day of the World Government Summit, Lt-Gen Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, announced the launch of the global inspiration platform ' as a database of inspirational stories from all over the world.

The UAE has also to aid people displaced by natural disasters and reduce climate change risks around the world. The two-year initiative will deliver climate initiatives and products that will serve 10 million people worldwide by 2020.

The second day of the summit session began with a hearing on access to mental serenity with Sake Santo Riley, director of Vigilance Center, Massachusetts University.
