Israeli forces arrest 10 Palestinian fishermen in one month

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Gaza, Feb. 11 (Petra) -- Since the beginning of 2018, Israeli occupation forces have opened fired at Palestinian fishermen in Gaza strip 36 times, arrested 10, injured 5 and seized 3 fishing boats, Al Mezan Center For Human Rights said Sunday in a statement.

The systematic Israeli violations on Gazans is one of Israel's violations in the strip and they contribute to the deterioration of living conditions and to the spread of poverty in the coastal enclave.

Israeli systematic conduct to repeatedly shoot, kill, and injure fishermen, and continue with arbitrary arrest, and taking hold of the fishermen's tools and destroying them come in the frame of Israel's blockade of the strip, and the Israeli systematic violations to the international humanitarian code of conduct, the center added.

The center demanded the immediate release of the detainees and called upon the international community, especially parties to the Fourth Geneva Convention, to fulfill their moral and legal obligations and work on lifting the imposed land, aerial, and naval blockade on Gaza.
