Qatar Society of Engineers board elects Chairman

DOHA: The Board of Directors of the Qatar Society of Engineers held its meeting in light of the Ministerial decision No. 46 taken by Minister of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs H E Dr Issa Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi on November 23, 2017 according to which the temporary board of society was established.

The Qatar Society of Engineers is a professional non-profit organisation established in accordance with the provisions of Law No. (12) of 2004 on Private Societies and Institutions.

The board held its meeting and elected its chairman and defined the duties of its members. The meeting also discussed the agenda and activities of the society for 2018 which are consistent with the objectives of the society.

Eng. Abdulaziz Ali Al Ishaq was elected as Chairman of the Board of Directors, Eng. Mohammed Abdullah Al Kuwari as Vice-Chairman, Eng. Khalid Abdul Rahim Al Sayed as Secretary General and General Manager of the Board, Eng. Abdullah Sultan Al Ali was elected as Treasurer with membership of Eng Mohammed Misfer Al Hajri.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Society, Abdul Aziz Ali Al Ishaq expressed his pleasure to chair the Board and his readiness to work with the members of the board in order to ensure the success of the objectives of the society and mandates of the board.

The priority of the board in the coming period will be reorganisation of the society in terms of membership and administrative structure to achieve its mission and objectives to continually playing its important role in the community.

Additionally, for preparation of the upcoming election of board members and the General Assembly meeting 2018, creation of database of former and current members and pointing out that all these will be done in cooperation with the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social are among the priorities, said Al Ishaq.

Al Ishaq explained that the society will seek in the next phase to strengthen the profession of engineering and promote the standards and ethical practices of the profession in cooperation.

For his part, Eng. Mohammed Abdullah Al Kuwari, Vice-Chairman of the Board, said that the most important thing that distinguish the members of the society is their unity, strong interaction and commitment to work together to ensure the success of board which has been appointed by his Minister of Administrative Development.

The members have agreed to work to strengthen the relationship and interaction between the members of the society and the members of the Board of Directors in order to enable them express their interests and professional rights, Al Kuwari stressed.

Eng. Khalid Abdul Rahim Al Sayed said that the work in the coming period will focus on introducing the society to the community, its activities and work for the completion of projects, conferences and major events. He added that the members of the board agree on the need to enable the society to play its role in the society, strengthen its relations and cooperation with institutions and create partnerships with Arab and international societies, and institutions of common interest.

Eng. Abdullah Al Ali said that the society will encourage scientific and engineering research through its publications, conferences, symposiums and coordinated visits. 'As well through organizing technical competitions, exchange of information with other societies, he stressed adding that the activities and events scheduled for year 2018 will be distinctive, diverse and fruitful.

Eng. Mohammed Misfer Al Hajri emphasised that the aim of the board is to unite the Qatari engineers, protect their rights and fulfil their obligations towards others, in addition to enhancing and highlighting their role within the Qatar society and abroad.
