Qatar- Katara Tech Forum discusses ICT updates

DOHA: The monthly Katara Tech Forum, held on Wednesday at the Cultural Village Katara, gathered a large number of information and communications technology (ICT) experts from the Ministry of Transport and Communications and the Qatar Computing Research Institute discussing latest updates and initiatives in the field of ICT at local and international levels.

'This forum emphasises the role of information technology in achieving the goals of sustainable development and reaching a future based on the knowledge economy. This is what we aim through the development of IT networks and communication systems, providing the best technical services, said Ahmed Al Sayed, Deputy Director General of Operations at Katara.

Stressing that the forum is a platform for the exchange of unique and fruitful experiences, and discuss the prospects of technical development between different institutions, in order to consolidate the rules of the digital economy.

Tariq Al Emadi, Manager of e-Government Portal, presented the most important future projects of e-Government portal in Qatar. Since 2000,the portal was committed to providing services and information.
He added: 'The portal is linked to more than 100 governmental, semi-governmental and private entities, as it offers 1380 service descriptions and 700 electronic services. The portal provides services to investors and individuals alike, including data, events, topics and applications.
The portal will witness a number of new projects, such as 'from start to end project, artificial intelligence project, my data project, the community communication project and the mini gates, in addition to the open data project and the Qatar digital strategy 2020 project. For his part, researcher Yazen Boshmaf of Qatar Computing Research Institute presented a lecture on the technology of Block Chain, a database or a new method of data regulation, as all transactors of digital currencies carry out their buying and selling in the stock markets using Block Chain to regulate all transactions.
Abdulrahman Al Sunaidi, a specialist in the history of technology in Techno-Positive, presented a seminar on Computer History, during which he discussed the most important developments in computers. An exhibition featuring the participating private companies and government entities ran in parallel with the forum.
