UAE beat Kenya by 218 runs


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Skipper Rohan Mustafa led from the front as the UAE beat Kenya by 218 runs in their first match of the ICC World Cricket League Division Two in Windhoek, Namibia, on Thursday.

Put into bat by Kenya captain Rakep Patel, the UAE made 303 for eight in 50 overs, thanks to some brilliant batting from Mustafa (73, 94 balls, 10 fours), Ashfaq Ahmed (73, 57 balls, 7 fours, 4 sixes), Rameez Shahzad (63, 85 balls, 1 four, 2 sixes) and Muhammad Usman (46 not out, 38 balls, 4 fours, 2 sixes).

Mustafa and Ahmed gave the UAE a flying start with a 133-run opening partnership.

In reply, Kenya were bowled out for just 91 in 32.4 overs with captain Mustafa taking two wickets with his off spinners.

In another match on Thursday, Oman lost to Canada by eight wickets. Batting first, Oman were all out for 106 as Canada reached home in 15.4 overs, losing only two wickets.
