UAE- We had no luck, says Kristoff

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Alexander Kristoff of UAE Team Emirates felt that he had a chance to compete for a Stage victory on Thursday if not for being stuck in traffic.

Nonetheless, the Norwegian was pleased to come away with another top-10 finish in the Dubai Tour. Kristoff finished seventh in the Dubai Silicon Oasis Stage, the third Stage of the Dubai Tour in Fujairah.

It followed up on a seventh place finish in the Ras Al Khaimah Stage on Wednesday and an impressive fourth in the Nakheel Stage, the opening Stage of the Tour.

Kristoff said that he felt good fitness wise and said a win was there if not for the bad luck.

"Our lead-out train was perfect and we were at the front in the right moment, but we had no luck," Kristoff said after the Stage in Fujairah.

"We were boxed in to the left and couldn't find any open road to accelerate. If we could have found some space, I feel I would have had a better chance of competing for the victory as my legs felt good today," he added.

Meanwhile, UAE National Champion Yousif Mirza said that they couldn't carry on the momentum but added that he will give it his best in the remaining two Stages on Friday and Saturday.

The fourth Stage is the Dubai Municipality Stage to Hatta on Friday, which is a Stage for climbers and the fifth Stage is the Meraas Stage on Saturday.

"It was unfortunate we couldn't carry that momentum into today's (Thursday) breakaway. I put a lot of energy into yesterday's (Wednesday) efforts, which took its toll, but I will ensure I give another 100% in the remaining stages," said the Emirati.
