Jordan- Iraq launches military operation against Daesh remnants


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Baghdad, Feb. 7 (Petra) -- Iraqi security sources announced Wednesday the launch of a military operation to purge regions in the northeast of Salah ad Din Governorate.

the Iraqi Combined Joint Operations Center (CJOC) said that the military operation in East Touz was launched early Wednesday for the purpose of establishing security and stability and eradicating the sleeping cells and continue with the purging operations. The center added that all of the Iraqi forces took part in the operation, in addition to the military air force to destroy the remnants of the self-styled terrorist group of Daesh and the smugglers of oil once and for, pointing out that the area was secured and it is safe for the displaced families to return.

A terrorist group called (the White Banners) was active in the areas of Tuz Khurmatu and south of Kirkuk in previous weeks, the CJOC added.
