To reduce pollution, will buy buses, launch plantation drive: Kejriwal

In a bid to reduce air pollution in the national capital, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday announced that the government will buy at least 2,000 buses for public transportation and also launch a plantation drive on large scale.
Speaking with a group of students from Mumbai, Kejriwal said, "Delhi and Mumbai are not in competition" and wished both the cities to prosper.

On being asked about the Delhi government's steps on tackling pollution, the chief minister said that it is a very complex problem and the AAP government is making efforts to tackle the problem.
He said, "Delhi government does not lack political will because we brought odd-even scheme which was very difficult to implement, but we still did it."
Will involve children and other citizens in plantation drive: Kejriwal
Details
Adding that the government is planning to plant trees across the city on a large scale this year, Kejriwal said, "We will involve school children and citizens also. We are also planning to buy 2,000 buses so that people leave their cars and take to buses."
Earlier in December, the government also announced the procurement of 500 electric buses to boost public transport services.
