Turkey warns againstUS presence

(MENAFN) Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said that the US military presence in Syria after the defeat of the Islamic State terrorist group is targeting Turkey, Russia and Iran.

"We are asked when we finish our operation in Syria, and you (the US) have already left Afghanistan, from Iraq, you say that the IS is no more. Then why are you staying there? So, you have settlements against Turkey, against Iran, or perhaps against Russia, but we will stand firmly. While terrorism can threaten our security, we will act decisively," Erdogan said addressing the deputies of the parliamentary faction of the ruling Justice and Development Party.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Turkey on January 20 declared the beginning of the offensive "Olive Branch" against the formation of Kurds in Syrian Afrin. At the same time with Turkey, the militants of the "Syrian Free Army" are active.

Damascus strongly condemned Turkey's offensives in Afrin, noting that it is an essential part of Syria. Moscow in connection with the situation in Africa called on all parties to restraint and respect the sovereignty of Syria.
