The Zionists Are Out of PatienceBy Fahed Khitan

Historically speaking, the Zionist movement has always been exceptionally patient, Jordanian politician Adnan Abu Odeh claims.

Patience and diligence are the main characteristics of the movement's endeavour over the centuries to take Palestine, a step at a time, all the way to the establishment of Israel.

Of course, their dream of Israel includes all of historical Palestine, from river to sea.

Contrary to their predecessors, the neo-Zionists today are not as patient.

In fact, they have escalated their efforts in these last few years to swallow the West Bank, both land and resources, by legalising settlement.

It seems the neo-Zionists are out of breath.

The Israeli Knesset just announced that a bill to integrate the occupied West Bank is underway. The Israeli right wing has already submitted two bills to impose and legalise integration.

Centuries in, the Zionists have finally given up on their patience.

This is only the first of the repercussions of the deteriorated Arab state of affairs and the fall of the Arab cooperative apparatus, due to intensified domestic disputes and conflicts. The strategic shift in direction and reprioritisation among the region's major players has deprioritised Palestine. It is no longer the Arab states' primary cause.

On the other hand, there is the fact that the right wing in Israel is taking over. The moderate Israeli camp has collapsed in the face of new parties, drenched in chauvinism and blood-thirsty.

Meanwhile, the arrival of Donald Trump in the White House, strapping a team of pro-Israel Jews, more biased towards Israel than Netanyahu himself, has not been helpful. In just these past few months, Trump gave the Israelis what they've been dreaming of for years; public recognition.

By doing so, he provided Israel with a solid diplomatic shield that umbrellas them from scrutiny, denunciation or even the pursuit of the Security Council.

He handed Jerusalem over, all of it, to Israel, and outright declared it off the table for both parties.

In the meantime, he's prepping for the proposal to finalise the Palestinian Cause, granting Palestinians under occupation nothing; none of their most basic rights.

On the way to finishing Palestine off, he is hell-bent on bringing UNRWA to the ground, to put an end to the Palestinian refugees' case, once and for all.

More so, the Israelis are preparing for a swift and terrible war on Gaza.

Gaza Strip is already under siege, on the edge of a humanitarian disaster. Especially since the suspension of UNRWA there.

On top of all this, there is the split among the Palestinians themselves and the absence of real intentions to consolidate the Palestinian frontier.

That said, it is only natural the Zionists will hold their breath no longer.

They will invest in this precise moment to conclude their historical conquest.

For years, the Israel government has worked quietly and diligently to get the two-state solution thrown out of the window. The continued settlement and exploitation of the Oslo agreement in reality, reinforcing apartheid and demographic-political isolation; all of this has made the dream of an independent Palestinian state beyond reach.

There is a lot of support worldwide for the Palestinians, even among states. None of it, however, has enabled the realisation of something tangible.

Washington has always been in control, and has allowed no one to approach the Israelis.

Today, the Palestinians try to appeal to the International Community to support their righteous cause, but no one seems to be ready to stand up to Trump and his wondrous zeal.

The Zionists are out of patience, finally.

Meanwhile, the Arab World prays for Washington's pity, to show mercy for our weakness.
