Qatar Foundation welcomes Mayor of Halifax

DOHA: Qatar Foundation (QF) yesterday welcomed Mike Savage, Mayor of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, to Education City.

Mike Savage was welcomed at QF Headquarters yesterday morning, along with Nancy Phillips, Vice-President, Trade and International Activities, Halifax Partnership; and Taleb Abidali, Principal of the Nova Scotia building firm Cresco Developments.

Mayor Savage is also President of the World Energy Cities Partnership, a multinational partner-ship comprising 20 of the world's leading energy capitals, including Halifax, Calgary, St. John's, Rio de Janeiro, Cape Town, Karamay, Houston, and Doha.

During the visit, the Canadian delegation was given a comprehensive presentation highlighting QF's different academic institutes, science and research centers, and community development initiatives.

The visitors also heard how QF's flagship development, Education City, serves as a hub of aca-demic excellence, housing a range of educational facilities, from QF schools to partner universi-ties and its homegrown institution, Hamad Bin Khalifa University.

Following the presentation, the delegation was taken to the open-air viewing platform on the eighth floor of QF Headquarters, where they were shown the education and research buildings of Education City, and discussed future plans at QF.

Concluding the visit, Savage, Phillips, and Abidali signed the Visitors Book to commemorate the visit.
