(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Dubai Tour 2018 Stage 1 kicked off today from Skydive Dubai. To be held for the next five days, the annual cycling tour in the city will culminate on February 10.
To the surprise of many, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum,Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, was spotted watching the cyclists as they passed through Al Marmoom Conservation Reserve.
Sitting in his car, he can be seen surveying the tour while talking to the officials. They seem to be explaining the different stages of the five-day tour to him.
Sheikh Mohammed is known to surprise the residents with his visits. Be it the Dubai Frame, Dubai Marina, Global Village, City Walk of Dubai Safari Park, you can see him casually walking alongside the visitors with his entourage.
Just last week, he made a surprise visit to Global Village in Dubai. He paid a visit to the different pavilions, spread across the tourist attraction. He started with the Kuwait pavilion and then moved to Yemen and other nationalities.
