By Rufiz Hafizoglu – Trend:

Turkey and Iraq will hold political consultations at the level of advisers of the two countries' foreign ministries, the Turkish Foreign Ministry told Trend Feb. 5.

The ministry said the political consultations will be held in Ankara on Feb. 6.

The two sides will discuss regional issues, according to the ministry.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu visited Iraq on Jan. 21. Regional issues and joint fight against the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) were discussed during the visit.

The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has continued for more than 30 years and has claimed more than 40,000 lives.

The UN and the European Union list the PKK as a terrorist organization.
