Lebanese army arrests Daesh member, kills another

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Beirut, Feb. 5 (Petra) -- A member of the Lebanese army was killed and others were injured in a gunfire exchange in the city of Tripoli following counter terrorism raid, a Lebanese army statement said on Monday.

"The army was carrying out an operation to arrest one of the most dangerous members of the Daesh terrorist group, named Hagar al-Abdullah, after detained members tipped the army off that he got back to Tripoli from Syria, where he was fighting with terrorists, and was planning for a new terrorist attack," a Lebanese security source told "Petra's" reporter in Lebanon.

"The army managed to arrest al-Abdullah's brother whom threw 11 hand grenades at the army troops, leaving one soldier dead and 7 others injured, including two officers," adding that "the building where the terrorist was hiding was fully surrounded and that the army troops killed him after gunfire exchange".
