Turkey to move into Manbij if Kurds does not leave


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Ankara: If the PYD/PKK group does not leave Syria's Manbij, Turkey will move there and towards east of Euphrates River, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag said Sunday.

In remarks made to CNN Turk, Bozdag, said the PYD/PKK had to leave Manbij, "If they PYD/PKK do not leave Manbij, we will move into Manbij and towards the east of Euphrates, the operation aims to establish security and stability along Turkey's borders and the region as well as to protect Syrians from oppression and cruelty of terrorists."

Bozdag added that 932 militants have been eliminated since the operation olive branch was launched on January 20 and that the operation will continue until security and safety in the border villages and the neighbors in Afrin area are ensured.

In a related context, the Turkish Chief of Staff announced today the elimination of 35 gunmen during the military operations that took place last night in the context of the ongoing operation in the area of Afrin northern Syria, and the destruction of five military sites of the armed organizations, including weapons depots and shelters.
