Israel banned call to prayer 49 times at Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron January
(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Ramallah, Feb. 1 (Petra) -- The Israeli Occupation authorities prevented Adhan " the Muslim call to prayer " at the Ibrahimi Mosque in the city of Hebron 49 times in January, a Palestinian official said on Thursday.
A statement by the Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, sheikh Yousef Adeis, denounced the Israeli measures, adding that occupation authorities continue their violations and aggression against Muslim holy shrines in Palestine, without fear of accountability.
The minister urged the international community and its legal, cultural, and heritage bodies to protect the religious, historical, and cultural heritage of the Ibrahimi Mosque.
He also called for work to stop the ongoing Israeli systematic violations that harm the status quo of the mosque, especially the occupation plans aim at helping the extremists settlers.
