Egypt to start up USD1.1bn cement plant


(MENAFN) Egypt is to soon establish a $1.1 billion cement plant with six production lines in Beni Suef city.

The project is to see 6,000 tonnes of cement per day produced for each production line, arriving at an overall output of 13 million tonnes yearly.

According to sources, Egypt has already produced in the past year a yearly capacity of 79 million tones, as well as a 53 million tonnes of consumption.

The sources further reported the country to have seen no less than three cement companies suffer from losses in 2017 during the third quarter, with national inventory currently at 5 million tonnes.
