Minister highlights Qatar's efforts to promote business


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Government officials of Qatar and the United States of America discussed trade and investment, including bilateral defence co-operation priorities, market access barriers, US companies' concerns, and inward and outward investments during the inaugural annual Strategic Dialogue held in Washington, DC, on Tuesday.
HE the Minister of Finance Ali Sherif al-Emadi, reiterated Qatar's efforts to promote business, stating: 'Qatar has recently undertaken several reforms and initiatives to further attract FDI by enhancing existing platforms, such as the Qatar Financial Centre, and promoting new ones, such as the establishment of the new Free Trade Zones. He added: 'We are continuously developing our core sectors and expanding our infrastructure to ensure that our nation prospers. He concluded: 'Qatar offers attractive platforms to investors looking to expand their business.
Several memorandums of understanding were signed during the session, including those on food security, cybersecurity and Intellectual Property Rights.
The dialogue, which was held as Qatar celebrates 45 years of co-operation with the US, explored various areas of partnership, including defence, counterterrorism, and combating extremism. The closing ceremony was co-chaired by HE Ali Sherif al-Emadi and US Secretary of Treasury Steven Mnuchin.
