Qatar- Minister Ahmed bin Jassim named QU CSR Person of the Year 2017

DOHA: Qatar University has named H E Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani, Minister of Economy and Commerce, as CSR Person of the Year 2017 in recognition of his role in tackling the blockade through the 'National Product initiative.
The National Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report monitors the achievements of the inspirational figures that show outstanding leadership in the CSR matters.The report is issued in Qatar University under the patronage of the Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al Thani, in partnership with Qatar CSR Network; and sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (distribution partner to Qatar embassies around the world), with the contribution of ministers, ambassadors and leading figures and the sponsorship of major institutions..
The coming edition of the report documents the CSR and citizenship efforts and achievements of the Qatari corporations and their success in beating the blockade, highlighting the progress made throughout 2017 and the commitments towards the four pillars of the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the sustainable development of the country.
Dr Hassan Rashid Al Derham, President of Qatar University, said: 'The efforts of H E Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani, Minister of Economy and Trade, are a source of pride and honor for Qatar. The ministry led the National Products Support Initiative under its supervision and was the first to promote the slogan‘together to support national products', in cooperation with major commercial and consumer centers. The initiative mandates the display of national products clearly on the shelves and place a poster bearing the phrase ‘national product' on local goods and products, in order to facilitate the access of these local products to the consumers.
H E Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani, Minister of Economy and Commerce, said, 'Nothing is better than being honored by the first national university in my country. The CSR Person of the Year Award 2017 puts me back right in the exam room. It challenges me to push forward with the efforts to promote the success of the economic policies adopted by Qatar. Over the past few years, Qatar managed to diversify its sources of income and contribute to building one of the most important economies in the region and the world.
The university is hosting the launch ceremony of the report in the presence of senior officials and academic personalities. The report enhances the skills and knowledge of Qatar University's students through their contribution in its preparation.
