Khaled bin Alwaleed to open 10 Vegan restaurants in MENA
(MENAFN) The son of Saudi billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal has declared plans to open at least 10 vegan restaurants in a bid to help tackle the Middle East's obesity epidemic.
Khaled bin Alwaleed Alsaud, who is stepping out from the shadow of his famous father with a rapidly growing holding company - KBW Investments - and a diverse array of new investments, made the announcement on Facebook.
He said he want to launch plant-based restaurants/cafes in the UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Lebanon and Jordan.
In the Facebook post, he added: "By 2020 we are aiming to have a minimum of 10 restaurants/cafes. Our region occupies parts of the top ten most obese counties in the world. This is crazy and frankly a joke we have reached this level."
He is an avowed vegan and an activist against cruelty to animals.
"I want to be successful and to be a better person than I was yesterday, and hopefully to leave this planet in a better state than it was when I arrived," Prince Khaled said in a 2016 interview with Arabian Business.
