Nrithodaya students give enthralling dance debut performance
The arangetram comprised the full Bharatnatyam repertoire with Kowthuvam, Shabdam, Varanam, Keerthanam, Pushpanjali and Tharangam, followed by Mangalam.
The students began their arangetram journey eight years ago under the brilliant guidance of Shailaja Sreekumar, an exponent of Bharatnatyam who attributes her success to her mother and guru Kalakshetra Vilasini, her father Muraleedharan Nair and her husband G Sreekumar.The arangetram was graced by chief guest Sushma Pandey, wife of H E Indra Mani Pandey, Ambassador of India to the sultanate, guest of honour, Asawari Deoras, member, Board of Directors of Indian Schools in Oman, special guest Kalakshetra, retd prof R L V Music College, Tirupunithura, Kerala, India, relatives, friends and well-wishers.
A highly accomplished orchestral team was led by the guru Shailaja on nattuvangam; vocal support was provided by Shani Vechiledath Krishnan, with mridangam accompaniment by Harikrishnan Ravikumar, Konneyoor Suresh on violin and Pradeep on flute, who created the perfect atmosphere.
