King receives Nobel Prize Laureates delegation

Amman, Jan. 28 (Petra)- His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday received a delegation representing the Steering Committee of the Laureates and Leaders for Children Summit 2018, scheduled to be held at the Dead Sea from 26-27 next March.

During the meeting, the King said issues to be discussed at the two-day gathering are significant, which focus on providing education and protection of children, refugees and the displaced persons from exploitation and abuse.

The delegation comprised First Lady of Panama, Lorena Castillo, José Manuel Ramos-Horta, former president of East Timor Republic, a Nobel Peace Laureate in 1996, and Kailash Satyarthi, an Indian activist of children rights, and Nobel Peace Laureate, 2014.

Satyarthi launched the first children summit aimed to bring Nobel Prize winners and leaders to forge a global plan to protect children.

The Indian capital New Delhi hosted the 1st summit in 2016.

At the forthcoming summit, the participants will discuss challenges facing children during crises, and to mull specific measures aimed to offer this segment necessary protection from exploitation, trafficking, slavery, abuse and to provide them schooling.
