Qatar- MET warns of strong wind quashes rain rumours

Doha: Weather in Qatar tonight until 6am on Monday will be some clouds with slightly dusty and cold at places inshore, the Department of Meteorology said in its daily weather report, warning of strong wind at places.

Meanwhile, MET also quashed rumours spreading on social media about heavy rain. They tweeted to clarify that there is no forecast of heavy rain.

'Qatar Meteorology Department would like to clearify that there is no forecast of heavy rain over the county in the short range and that long range forecasts are known to be inaccurate most of the time. Therefore, please take weather information from official sources all the time, they tweeted.

Offshore, it will be slightly dusty and partly cloudy, the report added, warning of strong wind and high sea.

Wind inshore will be northwesterly at a speed of 12 to 22 or 25 knots at places at times. Offshore, it will be northwesterly at a speed of 18 to 28 knots reaching 35 knots at places at times.

Visibility will be 4 to 8 kilometers or 2 kilometers or less at places.

Sea state inshore will be 2 to 4 feet surging to 5 feet at places at times, while offshore it will be 5 to 9 feet surging to 15 feet at places at times.
