Kuwait- His Highness Amir, Government encourage culture, arts

KUWAIT, Jan 27 (KUNA) -- The State of Kuwait has placed all possible resources for boosting the cultural sector, with continuous support by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
For its part, the Government has played a pivotal role, supporting and launching various cultural and literary establishments and activities, namely Kuwait International Book fair, held for the first time on November 1, 1975.
Latest fair was held in November, grouping 500 publishing houses, including 50 houses that participated in the cultural event the first time.
Al-Gurain Cultural Festival, due to conclude on January 29, was first launched on November 23, 1994, in response to the late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's desire.
The festival is held annually and proceeds for three weeks, featuring various workshops, musical concerts, fairs, cinematic and theatrical shows as well as seminars.
March 27, 1989, marked launch of Kuwait Theatrical Festival, coinciding with the World Theatre Day. The Kuwaiti theater dates back to 1921 with establishment of Al-Mubarakiah School.
Encouraging arts, the state has established the Higher Institute for Dramatic Arts, the Higher Institute for Musical Arts and the Musical Studies Institute and the Institute of Academic Art and Musical Sciences.
Kuwaiti holds, in March every year, the Arab Child Theater Festival, in addition to the Adults Festival featuring workshops, training courses, artistic shows, in addition to the Summer Cultural Festival aimed at helping the young citizens in investing in time in a constructive manner.
The International Musical Festival is organized in June. In March 2017, the Kuwait Cinematic Festival was held the first time, as part of an approach to encourage the youngsters be active in this realm. (end) mad.rk
