Turkmenistan names president of Academy of Sciences

Sapardurdy Toylyev has been elected as president of Turkmenistan's Academy of Sciences, the Turkmen government said in message Jan. 26.
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a relevant decree.
Earlier, Toylyev served as deputy prime minister of the country.
Currently, it is impossible to achieve sustainable development of the state, its all-round prosperity, without reliance on scientific achievements, and to create high-tech industries with a relevant supply system, said the Turkmen president, according to the message.
It is necessary to approach the issues of conducting work in the fuel and energy complex of the country, introducing modern technologies that ensure security in the construction of international gas pipelines, using the highest achievements of science, noted Berdimuhamedov.
