Turkey confiscates items of historical importance stolen in Iraq and Syria

The items of historical importance, stolen in Iraq and Syria, were confiscated in Istanbul, the Turkish media reported Jan. 26.
During a special operation Jan. 26 morning, the Istanbul police confiscated the items, which were smuggled into Turkey.
Reportedly, nine smugglers were detained during the special operation and 456 artifacts belonging to the ancient era were confiscated.
During the interrogation, the detainees confessed that they planned to smuggle all those artifacts to Europe.
