(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) WASHINGTON, Jan 25 (KUNA) -- The coalition against the so-called Islamic State (IS) completed the assessment of 218 reports of possible civilian causalities as a result of airstrikes of which five were assessed to be credible.
The review found 13 unintentional civilian deaths from these strikes.
To date at least 831 civilians have been unintentionally killed by Coalition strikes since the start of Operation Inherent Resolve, said a statement released from US Central Command (CENTCOM) on Thursday.
There are 406 reports of possible civilian casualties that are still being assessed.
Between August 2014 and December 2017 the Coalition conducted 28,783 airstrikes in which the total number of reports of possible civilian casualties was 1,820 resulting in 220 credible reports.
A non-credible report means a "lack of evidence" and does not deny the possibility that a civilian was killed, it said. (end) ak.gb
