Kuwait- EU interior, Justice ministers discuss migration, asylum policies

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BRUSSELS, Jan 25 (KUNA) -- EU Interior and Justice ministers began in Sofia, Bulgaria, Thursday two-day informal meetings, dedicated to migration and asylum, and to borders security.

"It is a very important informal meeting between the Ministers of Interior, taking place here in Sofia.

We have to find a way to agree in setting up and adopting a Common European Asylum System.

No decision will be made today, "EU Commissioner for migration and interior affairs, Dimitris Avramopoulos, told reporters ahead of the meeting.

He said they would also discuss issues related with the better, more efficient management of EU's external borders.

"Bulgaria is a good example of how you can manage your external borders and at the same time the borders of the European Union. Another point that will be discussed has to do with returns of the ones who are not eligible to stay in Europe, we have to be more efficient there," he added.

Bulgaria holds the current EU Presidency. (end) nk.mb
