DOHA: A first-of-its-kind — Chocolate, Coffee and Tea Festival — will be held from January 25 to February 3 at the Hotel Park Sheraton in Doha.
Organised by Four and One, the 10-day world-class festival will bring together more than 40 exhibitors, ready to display and offer tasting of their finest chocolate, teas and coffee while introducing the latest award-winning technological products.
Perched on the lawns of the Hotel Park, the festival is the perfect setting for attendees who wish to relax and enjoy samplings, sipping their favourite cold or hot beverages and gazing at the array of dramatic and colourfully illuminated high-rise towers of the nearby central business district.
Talking to The Peninsula, Fernando De Guama, Chief Executive Officer at Four and One, said: 'Chocolate, Coffee and Tea Festival is an exclusive combination that we all have come up with for the public. We have 40 exhibitors till now and 10 entrepreneurs from Bedaya Center participating in the competitions which will be held during the festival. Many gifts will be distributed by our partners at the event. There will be a special ‘No Mobile Zone' for families where the families will sit, talk and enjoy.
'The registrations are open for people who are willing to participate in the competitions which are on our website. We are aiming to place the festival as a destination festival to attract local and international clients to experience the continuous development of the industry. The competitions are made to identify the hidden-talents , as there are many people with skills which don't get identified and awarded, Fernando added.
The winner will be supported by the Bedaya Center to open up their own shops which help them become a part of the industry. The winners will be given prizes too. 'The title of ‘best barista of the year 2018' will be given to one of the winners as well, Fernando said while talking about the rewards for the competitors.
The 3,500sqm outdoor jamboree allows free entry and features children activities, cake decoration competitions, crafting the art of coffee and tea making, as well as pouring challenges. The Hotel Park will play host to over 160 events and festivals during this year.
Treasurer Member of Qatar Culinary Professionals, Yuksel Mutlu, said: 'We hope that first event of 2018 will be successful because all the partners are strong and have the potential to pull off a wonderful event.
We have around 110 people participating in different competitions. We want families to participate in this event and show the level of understanding and togetherness they share. ‘Biryani Festival' is the upcoming festival which will be held in Hotel Park as well.
'We are glad to partner with local festivals working closely with them to support the development of the industry in Qatar along with our recommendations to build up stronger foundations and more awareness to this specific industry, he added.
The festival will provide seminars from well-known industry pros and pioneers, pairings, tastings, cake making recipes and for the very first time a social media lounge for bloggers with Wifi connected laptops, comfy seats and a collection of free coffees and teas.
Commenting on Bedaya Centre's responsibility, Mahmood Al Mahmood, Entrepreneurship Advisor, said: 'The main objective of Bedaya Center is to enable entrepreneurs in the fields of professional development and entrepreneurship through diverse mediums and methods.
'These include workshops for basic and advanced skills, which will help them adapt to the local market and launch their projects and products, he added.
