Oman- Busaidi stays as chairman of GCC and Yemen RADO


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) H E Dr Sultan al Busaidi, chairman of the Oman Anti-Doping Committee (OADC) , will continue to remain the chairman of the GCC and Yemen Regional Anti-Doping Organisation (RADO) till 2019 after its board of directors decided to postpone the elections at its 15th executive committee meeting held in Muscat on Tuesday.

The GCC and Yemen RADO had re-elected H E Busaidi for a two-year term in its last executive meeting held in Muscat in 2015. And on Tuesday, the meeting agreed to postpone the elections till next year.

Dr Saleh al Qambaz, chairman of the Saudi Anti-Doping Committee, will also continue as the organisation's vice-chairman.

Oman is presently the headquarters of the GCC and Yemen Regional Anti-Doping Organisation.

Abdullah al Alawi, secretary of OADC, said, 'The two-day meeting will also be attended by World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) experts and other top officials of the Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) and other sports associations.'

Taha al Kishry, the OOC secretary-general highlighted the OADC's role in combating doping and increasing awareness. He said that the regional meet will focus on international and anti-doping regulations, international standards of prohibited substances and methods in sports, updating the list of such substances, national anti-doping programmes and anti-doping violations and therapeutic-use exemptions.
