Kuwait top lawmaker says core of Jerusalem reveals political truth

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, Jan 17 (KUNA) -- Understanding the very essence of the holy city of Jerusalem is key to political certainty, Kuwait's National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim said on Wednesday.

Addressing the "Al-Azhar International Conference to Support Jerusalem", Al-Ghanim spoke of Kuwait's tireless pursuit of justice, in reference to Palestinian aspirations for statehood.

"Amid the uproar over the Jerusalem issue, we should never overlook the struggle and adversity facing the Palestinian people," Kuwait's chief lawmaker told a packed audience comprising political and religious figures from across the world.

On "a highly emotional Jerusalem issue," he said that it "has tugged the heartstrings of people", stressing that even the most subtle of actions would go a long way in supporting Palestinian resistance.

"Understanding the nature of Jerusalem would help explain the meaning this holy city holds," Al-Ghanim underlined, exclaiming, "Palestinians would ultimately emerge victorious." (Pick up previous) ms.nam
