Activist released after detained for six months in Yemen


(MENAFN) After six months of detaining him, a prominent activist has been released by Yemen's Houthi rebels.

Hisham al-Omeisy's, was detained on Aug. 14 in Sanaa, his brother, Essam, said he was released Monday and is at home in good health.

The Iran-backed Houthis, have jailed dozens of activists, journalists and lawyers; many cases were documented by the Rights groups, showing forced disappearances and arbitrary arrests, and many detainees have been tortured to death inside Houthi-run facilities.
