First Muscat school U14 chess league from Feb 28


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The International Chess Academy of Oman (ISAO) and the French School of Muscat, Lycee Francais de Mascate, (LFM) will jointly conduct the First Muscat School U14 Chess Champions League 2018 on February 28 at the school premises in Airport Heights.

Nearly 15 international schools based in Muscat are expected to participate.

Each school will send its best four players (U14) at the competition that will follow the Swiss system and the International Chess Federation (FIDE) rules and regulations.

Following the qualification round to select the best four teams on February 28, the semifinals and finals will be held on March 4.

Ameer al Raisi, the ICAO president, said, 'It will be a professional platform for kids to compete against each other. We would like to thank the Ministry of Education for their support.'

Yves Martel, the principal of French School of Muscat said, 'It's an honor for our school to host the first edition of the Muscat Chess School Champions League. The game of chess is a wonderful tool to develop the analytical skills, creativity and focus for students and what better way than a competition to push themselves to the utmost while having fun.'
