Oman- Indian School Sohar hosts alumni meet


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- To take a walk down the corridors of nostalgia, the first ever Alumni Meet, SOAL 2017, was organised by the students of Indian School Sohar Alumni.

The occasion was graced by more than 80 alumni and their family members ranging across various batchesfrom various parts of the globe India, the US, the UK, the Netherlands, Singapore, Sri Lanka, the UAE and Oman as well.

The inaugural session was also attended by the School Managing Committee members and various faculty and staff members of Indian School Sohar. The organising secretary of SOAL Adnan Khan welcomed all, highlighted the achievements and called for greater alumni participation.

President SMC Abraham George underlined and praised the achievements of alumni in all walks/spheres of life.

He expressed that it was a matter of great pride for ISS that its alumni are holding the first ever meet. Principal Sanchita Verma praised the contribution of the alumni towards the growth of their alma mater and emphasised the need for further strengthening the linkage between the alumni and current students.

SMC members were felicitated by the alumni on exceptional achievements and growth of the school.

The inaugural session was followed by a cultural programme by school students and alumni.

Great bonhomie was observed everywhere, with old students reliving their old memories with their batchmates, seniors and juniors.

Many of the current students were also seen interacting with their pass out seniors and learning from their experiences.

There were moments of surprise, happiness, exhilaration and joy when people met their long-lost friends. The atmosphere was that of sheer camaraderie.

The key highlights of the second day were the picnic to Mussannah and camp fire in the evening. There were games and quizzes organised for everyone to take part in and win prizes as well. Traditional Omani seating and shawarma, added fun to the evening. It rained heavily but did not dampen the spirit.

The third day's programme had a lot of exciting events lined up to raise the nostalgia. Basketball and cricket with the school team was a great day to relive the sporting experience. The alumni also participated in Buddy Talks to help students understand careers.

Distinguished alumni from different sectors like Consultancy, Finance and Banking, FMCG, IT, Medical Science and Software, etc gave a talk pertaining to their sectors.

Head of the organising committee Khan and other members Sameer Khan, Jeby John and Taraka profusely thanked everybody for attending the event and making it successful.

Everyone appreciated the efforts by the SOAL in organising the Grand Alumni Meet for the first time in the school and planning it to perfection.

The meet ended with a promise to meet again and everyone bid an emotional farewell to each other and their beloved ISS.
