Spain to push back the US as second most popular tourism place


(MENAFN) According to the UN World Tourism Organization, Spain will be replacing the US as the world's second most popular tourism location with France.

In general, the number of international tourist arrivals increased 7% last year to 1.b, according to latest estimates.

The US and Spain have received about 76m international visitors in 2016, however, Spanish PM said last week that the country had a record year in 2017, with over 82m international visitors.


UNWTO mentioned in its preliminary analysis of 2017 tourism data: "Led by Mediterranean destinations, Europe recorded extraordinary results for such a large and rather mature region."
