Global carmakers stepping further in electric vehicle market


(MENAFN) Ford Motor Co's plan to double its electrified vehicle spending is part of an investment rush in batteries and electric cars by global automakers, which now totals 90b USD and is still growing.

With the world's leading automakers poised to release dozens of new battery electric and hybrid gasoline-electric models over the next five years.

Ford Motor Executive Chairman said "We're all in," of the company's 11b USD investment, announced on Sunday at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. "The only question is, will the customers be there with us?"

Investments in electrified vehicles declared to date include more than 19b USD by automakers in the US, 21b USD in China and 52b USD in Germany.
