Kuwaiti Health Min. performs cochlear implant surgery on juvenile


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) By Nasser Qadih KUWAIT, Jan 15 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Health Minister Sheikh Dr. Basel Al-Sabah has conducted a highly complex cochlear implant procedure on a six-year-old girl, saying that his "ministerial duties do not interfere with his humanitarian obligation as a surgeon." Speaking to KUNA on Monday after a marathon surgery that lasted two hours, he said that the girl was in stable condition and is currently convalescing at Zain Hospital after going under the knife.

He pointed out that such intricate procedures are a testament to the tremendous progress Kuwait's healthcare system has made.

The Kuwaiti minister stressed that his compatriot physicians are more than capable of taking healthcare in the country to new levels. (end) ntq.nam
