Jordan- Senate President meets Dubai Cares CEO


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Jan. 15 (Petra) -- Senate President Faisal Fayez on Monday underlined the importance of social, charitable and humanitarian work activities in promoting the spirit of cooperation within societies, urging Arab community institutions and associations to enhance cooperation among them to serve those in need.

Fayez spoke as he welcomed Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Cares, a UAE-based philanthropic establishment.

& quot;Under the circumstances the Arab nation has been facing, enhanced cooperation is needed, especially in the fields of education, health and various humanitarian services & quot;, Fayez told the visiting official and an accompanying delegation, referring to the hundreds of thousands of refugees around the world who are in dire need of aid.

Jordan, he said, hosts around 1.3 million Syrian refugees, most of them live outside their designated camps. Despite the repercussions of the Syrian refugee crisis on Jordan, the Kingdom provides the displace Syrians with the humanitarian aid, in an effort to enable them live a decent life, said Fayez.

With scarce resources and economic problems, Jordan is estimated to have delivered more than $10 billion to the displaced from neighboring Syria, the Senate president said.

He also commended the assistance provided by the UAE to Jordan, and emphasized the important role played by Dubai Cares in helping the Kingdom in the domains of education and building schools.

Al Gurg, on his part, showcased his organization's role in advancing education in more than 53 countries worldwide, noting that Dubai Cares has run programs and plans to promote education for Syrian refugees in the coming period.
