UK urged to drop net migration reduction target
(MENAFN) MPs advised the UK government against its objective to reduce net migration to the tens of thousands.
The Home Affairs Committee clarified that not being able to meet the target "undermines" public trust. It also argued that rather than carrying out the plan, immigration policies ought to keep in mind the needs "and humanitarian obligations" of the UK.
The group of MPs further warned about the mounting concerns over the level of illegal immigration as a result of official data deficiency, with the Home Office supporting lower immigration.
