UAE- 98% Emiratis reject Muslim Brotherhood

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A survey has revealed that 97.55 per cent of Emiratis have negative or very negative opinion about the Muslim Brotherhood, and these opinions increased along with the respondent's educational level.

To counter misleading information that affects the UAE community, the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) conducted an opinion survey on the Muslim Brotherhood in all segments of society in terms of gender, education, income and age.

According to Dr Jamal Sanad Al Suwaidi, Director-General of ECSSR, the statistics on people who had negative opinions on the Muslim Brotherhood are as follows; 96.19 per cent for those who completed pre-secondary education, 96.47 per cent for those who completed secondary education, 97.52 per cent for those with diplomas, 97.92 per cent for those with university degrees, and 98,74 per cent for those who completed postgraduate studies.

He said even though this outcome was expected, given the nature of the Emirati community, the survey is more sophisticated than simply selecting between extremism and support for the UAE leadership. The centre chose to perform the survey on the basis of scientific research to correct previous misleading attempts by certain foreign entities.

The opinions were in line with values of openness, tolerance and moderation which the UAE upholds and the Muslim Brotherhood's calls for extremism and terrorism.
